The Royal Post Road (Styvi – Bleiklindi)
Interested in a gentle historical hike without much traffic? Join us for boat & hike adventure to the Royal Post Road nestled in the heart of Nærøyfjorden.

Back in the days the main postal route between Bergen and Oslo went through Lærdal and Gudvangen by boat. However, from fall until late spring the innermost part of Nærøyfjorden would often be frozen over.

They therefore had to dock at Styvi and carry the mail by foot to Bleiklindi. From Bleiklindi they walked across the icy fiord to Bakka, where there was a cart road leading further into the fjord towards Gudvangen.
This is an idyllic hike in summer where you will be surrounded with lush forest and grazing farm animals. Throughout the trail you will have dramatic cliffs hanging above you, and you will experience breathtaking views of the fiord surrounded by waterfalls and spectacular mountains, as the hike follows the shoreline where possible.
Stalheim – Nåli trip details Total distance: 5.3 kilometers. Estimated total duration: 3- 4 hours. Elevation gain: 190 meters. Trip grading: Moderate – blue. Uneven trail with some loose rocks and exposed roots. Suitable for families: Yes.

Nærøyfjorden Haute Route
Go off the beaten path and explore some of the best kept secrets of Nærøyfjorden with our hike and boat (all inclusive) multi-day adventures.
Not many people know about this hidden paradise as the most of the terrain can only be reached by boat. Along the way we also use ATVs, and spend the night in a newly restored historic mountain farm nestled between the peaks above the fjord.

The remoteness of the location makes for a peaceful experience. No sound from civilization, besides perhaps some hunters that have been visiting the valleys around Hjølmo since the Iron Age due to the abundant wild life.
A part of the experience is also to take a dip in the lake, river or fjord after our big day out. The brave ones may be rewarded with some mindfulness while drying in the sun or by the fireplace.

As this tour is fully customized, the guide will adapt the hikes to fit your group. Suggested hikes:
- Breiskrednosi 1189, Skoganosi 1289 and Vassetfjellet 1168 are vigorous trips in beautiful surroundings. These peaks can be climbed through terrain of medium difficulty
- The mountains towards Fresvik, Storaleitet 1465 and Nonhaugfjellet 1459, are large mountains with open flanks. Enjoy the panoramic views of Sognefjord, Fresvikbreen and Hurrungane.
- Styvisdalseggi 1439, Handadalseggi 1431 and Vassetnipa 1501 are advanced mountains with an alpine character. They often require the use of mountaineering skills.
This adventure can also be experienced in spring as a muliti-day ski touring trip.

Bonus hike: Prest (Aurland)
Around half an hour drive from Gudvangen, the little village Aurland is nestled by the neighbouring fiordarm from Nærøyfjorden, called Aurlandsfjorden.
Aurland is connected to the neighbouring village, Lærdal, by a 24 kilometer long tunnel (the longest road tunnel in the world!). However, if jaw dropping scenery is more your vibe, the Old Aurland’s Road is a destination in itself.

The hike up to Prest starts right by Old Aurland’s Road a couple of minutes drive from Aurland. Along the hike up the ridge you get to experience the Turlifossen waterfall, as well as authentic mountain farms.
The first section towards Hovden is rather gentle before the pitch picks up. The hard work pays off with panoramic views of the Aurlandsfiord all the way into Flåm, framed in by ragged mountain peaks and the glaciers Fresvikbreen and Syrdalsbreen.
This hike is perfect for families, and is a more gentle option to Rimstigen. What makes the hike up to Prest stand out compared to many other fiord hikes, is that instead of starting at sea level you start quite alpine (800 m). Enjoy the wast open landscape right from the carpark.

If you are lucky you might catch some goats around Prest in the summer.
